Save Your Empties!

This is a great way to jazz up your empty bottles - particularly if you have interesting shaped ones. I used silicone and small pieces for the mosaic so they wouldn't 'see-saw' with the surface of the bottle not being flat. You can use them as fancy bottles on the table or put fairy lights in them and have them as lamps. An ornate stopper can be a lovely finishing touch. Has anyone else used bottles for their mosaics?

Save Your Scraps!

As most of you know, I always save my tiny scraps of glass and encourage everyone else to do the same. Here's something you can do with those scraps - a hot shimmering sun! Just start in the centre with small pieces and spiral outwards using bigger pieces as you go (as if you were building a rose). Start adding some blue in as well and you have a lovely hazy, desert sun - shimmering in the sky. You could also use this technique for fireworks too!

When you’re looking around for things to use in your mosaics, try to visualise/think outside the box when you see something that appeals to you or catches your eye. These beautiful small iridescent glass fishtails are pendants, but by cutting them in different ways you can make bumblebee wings, small butterflies or butterfly wings, fish tails and fins, or for a sea scene, Portuguese man-of-war sails.
